Chimnie and Twinn partner on granular climate risk data for every UK property

Property-data specialist Chimnie has joined forces with leading climate data provider Twinn by Haskoning to provide one of the UK’s most comprehensive property risk datasets.

The integration combines Twinn’s flood, subsidence and coastal-erosion scores with Chimnie’s granular UK property database, giving insurers, lenders and asset managers a single, address-level view of physical risk.

Twinn’s flagship product FloodScore® Climate provides property-level flood risk ratings. At the highest level, risk ratings are scored out of 100, along with further detail indicating the likely depth and frequency of flooding for a variety of present day and future scenarios, covering various flood sources, emissions scenarios and time periods.

SubScore Climate analyses six underlying causes of subsidence, predominantly focussing on shrink-swell clays, and models how climate change will impact subsidence risk over time. For consistency, Property-level risk ratings are assigned a score of up to 100 at the highest level.

Its third score, ErosionScore, provides climate-adjusted projections which estimate the likelihood of coastal erosion and how it will affect coastal properties each year, under multiple scenarios.

Chimnie’s 30 million monthly property assessments use hundreds of geospatial datasets to deliver a single source of truth on every UK address.

Jon  Francis, Chimnie founder said:

Underwriters and lenders increasingly need climate-grade granularity, not postcode averages. Pairing Twinn’s forward-looking risk scores with our 30 million monthly property assessments means decisions - from pricing to portfolio strategy - can reflect today’s realities and tomorrow’s threats.

Mark Frost, Twinn sales lead, said:

Together we’re delivering a climate-risk toolkit that is both technically robust and immediately usable. By embedding our Risk scores with Chimnie’s solution, we make climate intelligence accessible and actionable for a wider range of uses within a broader range of businesses.
